The Department of Emergency Critical Care Medicine at Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital has set up an intensive care unit consisting only of private wards, which is the first among all domestic university hospitals; and we are prepared with a medical team of specialists exclusively appointed for the ICU to prepare any acute exacerbation of critical patients for patient's safety.
The Department of Emergency Critical Care Medicine of Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital is composed of specialists solely dedicated to ICU, participating in treatment of critical patients who need intensive monitoring and treatment in the ICU. This is a multidisciplinary department as specialists from different fields of specialization such as Neurology and Surgery Departments provide professional treatments together depending on the disease responsible for the criticality.
We are taking multidimensional approaches aiming at the best critical patient care in terms of overall treatment of unstable vital signs that may occur from patients in the ICU, diverse invasive skills adopted in the ICU, mechanical ventilation therapy, neurologic assessment, ultrasound, transfer of critical patients, critical patient nutrition for recovery, critical patient's rehabilitation, etc.
In addition, we are involved in the process of withdrawing life-sustaining treatment for patient's death with dignity and taking care of organ donation of brain-dead patients for keeping other lives.
