The Ischemic Stroke Center of the Ewha Womans University Cerebrovascular Hospital aims to provide comprehensive medical care encompassing diagnosis, treatment, and prevention for patients who suffer from acute or chronic cerebral infarction.
Our stroke specialists work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. When cerebral infarction occurs, the emergency room performs the fastest thrombolytic therapy, and the latest angiographic laboratory performs endovascular recanalization therapy, thereby ensuring that each patient receives all acute treatment within the “golden time”. After providing emergency treatment to a patient, we monitor the patient in the 12-bed Stroke Intensive Care Unit and the Neurological Intensive Care Unit and do our utmost to prevent any worsening of cerebral infarction and associated complications.
While the patient is hospitalized, we check for vascular risk factors by examining the possible causes of the cerebral infarction and perform drug adjustment and vascular interventional procedures based on the results. We also provide the most appropriate customized treatment for each patient in order to improve their quality of life, such as rehabilitation treatment aimed at promoting a rapid neurological recovery while minimizing any aftereffects, management to prevent a relapse after leaving the hospital, cognitive treatment for vascular cognitive impairment, and education for managing depression.
